Confidentiality means “Keeping information you know about someone else to yourself” and only disclosing it to others with the consent of the person who owns it. In other words, respecting a person's privacy and the confidence in which they have provided information to you, and then not relaying it to anyone else, even if in doing so, you receive a benefit.
Buyers and Sellers want to know that you will treat any information about them with discretion. This means you will take extra care in not attracting attention or revealing private information. As the professional agent that you are, remember the fiduciary relationship you are in. Your clients deserve and value confidentiality. The Influential Conversation you should repeat is “I take confidentiality seriously. If you tell me something it stays in confidence. I learned early in my career that any crossover of information may cause a conflict later.”
